Wednesday night we ate out. Doris Roberts (Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond) was giving a talk and book signing at Third Place Books, so we ate there before it started. Pop and I had Mexican and Leah had a wrap from Honey Bear Bakery. The night will be remembered for "The Great Butter Fight," which is unfortunate because Doris Roberts was really funny and gave a great motivational talk about not giving up on life, even when you're old. We had hoped Pop was listening, but he wanted to finish his dinner instead of boxing it up to take the rest home (he is seriously the SLOWEST eater I have ever seen, it drives me crazy) and didn't listen to her at all. As soon as it was over, all he wanted to do was go to the store and get his prescriptions and more goddamn butter! Ok, so it was really margarine, but still! There is no reason that we should have to get more margarine EVERY WEEK! How much does one person really need? He's the only one really using it, since Leah and I are dieting, and it only lasted a week. So, we got in a big argument and it turned into a Big Deal and everyone was mad at each other all night. Fun. Leah's still mad...Pop is probably dwelling on it too, wallowing in self-pity. As he said, it's his "one joy in life", eating butter and eggs and bacon and now we're against it. Boo hoo. Someone needs a life outside the house if that is their only joy.
